Multiple Accidents Plague
Weekend Traffic

An auto accident at the intersection of Route 5, Wisconsin Road and Delameter Road in the Town of Evans NY involved three vehicles around 3pm on June 12, 2000.

As Evans Center's Acting Asst. Chief Ken Hontz and North Evans Fire District Chief Nick Mecca arrived, a second accident occurred involving a van that struck a car almost head on.  Ambulances from Evans Center, Highland, Angola, Lake Erie Beach, Lake Shore and Rural/Metro EMS transported multiple patients to area hospitals.  Parts of the intersection where the two roads criss-cross the state highway were closed down temporarily while the chaos was cleared.

Later that evening, another accident occurred at the intersection of Route 5 and Lake St. about four miles away in Evans Center's district.  Two more collisions at the same intersection occurred the following day.

None of the injuries at any of the accident scenes appeared to be life threatening.
