Evans Center Vols tackle
another car fire on the NYS T-Way

Mid-Town --- February 23, 2001 – For the fourth time in a week, Evans Center Volunteers were called to fight a car fire, this the third on the New York State Thruway.

Firefighters were dispatched at 8pm to the 444.1 milepost marker in the eastbound lane of the I-90. Fourteen personnel manning three engines responded. Engines 1 and 3 went to the scene while Engine 2 stood by at Station 2. Everyone was back in service by 9:15pm.

Lt. John Krieger (l) lead the attack as he first wetted the passenger area to prevent further fire  spread Firefighter Tiger Schmittendorf relieved Lt. Krieger at the nozzle and continued to quell the engine compartment
