Evans Center Responds
to Route 5 Rollover

Mid-Town – March 27, 2001

A pick-up truck traveling on Rte. 5 in the Town of Evans rolled over near the Care-A-Lot day care center. One person was transported to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight Medical Helicopter. No extrication was required. The accident occurred around 4:15pm.


As the photos show, the vehicle flipped over and landed upside-down – straddling the ditch, suffering heavy damage. Evans Center Engine 1 responded to assist in traffic control and scene management.

Evans Center volunteers were assisted at the scene by Rural/Metro Medical Services, Evans Police, Angola Fire Control Dispatch and the Highland Hose Volunteer Fire Company.

Firefighting is not for everyone – but volunteering can be. Evans Center offers limited duty memberships in the areas of Fire/Rescue only, Fire Police only, Emergency Medical Services Only, Water Rescue only, or Corporate only. Corporate members support the fire department through administrative, technology, fund-raising, clerical and other non-emergency business functions.
