Stubborn
hay fire requires A pull-barn holding hundreds of bails of hay caught fire and required several departments to extinguish over two days. Evans Center and Angola Fire Companies were first dispatched to the Pontiac Road scene near Ryther Road in the Town of Evans on the evening of Saturday-November 3. There they found a pull-barn full of hay well involved in fire. The barn finally collapsed due to the stress of the fire. They, along with firefighters from Lake Erie Beach worked for hours to separate the bails and extinguish the lingering flames. Evans Center was dispatched the following afternoon for a
rekindle after smoldering hay lit off again. Eden firefighters assisted Evans
Center in foaming the mounds of hay to finally extinguish the flames.
