Organization of the Year

Mid-Town – January 26, 2002

At the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce President's Banquet, their first ever "Service Organization of the Year" award was presented to the Evans Center Fire Company.

Accepting the engraved plaque for the fire company, Past President Clint Soemann thanked the Chamber for this honor. The fire company was presented the award for their recent fire station expansion and dedicated service to the Town of Evans Community.

Since 1933, the Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company has been known as innovators in providing fire protection and emergency medical services to the Town of Evans.

 Some Evans Center “Firsts” include:

ü      They were one of the first fire departments in our town to provide ambulance service

ü      They were our town’s first fire company to purchase the life saving set of “Jaws of Life”

ü      They were the first to invest in a Thermal Imaging Camera to save lives and reduce property damage

ü      Evans Center was the first fire department in Erie County to construct its own state-of-the-art training facility

ü      They were the first fire company in the county to feature “Internet Ready” apparatus with their active web site splashed on the sides of their fire engines and other vehicles

ü      And soon Evans Center will be the first volunteer fire company in our town to offer Paramedic level emergency medical services

Their focus is clearly on their customer: the residents, businesses, and visitors of our town. Their new fire station, dedicated this past July, stands as the centerpiece of their neighborhood and represents their renewed commitment to being a premier provider of emergency services in our region.

With their new fully-sprinklered fire station and their continued innovations in fire protection and EMS, Evans Center is poised to serve our community’s needs today and well into the future.

Thus, Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company is proud to be the first recipients of the Evans-Brant Chamber’s “Service Organization of the Year Award” presented for 2001.

Firefighting is not for everyone – but volunteering can be. Evans Center offers limited duty memberships in the areas of Fire/Rescue only, Fire Police only, Emergency Medical Services Only, Water Rescue only, or Associate only.  Associate members support the fire department through administrative, technology, fund-raising, clerical and other non-emergency business functions.
