MidTown - May 30, 2002 --- WIVB's Lisa Flynn was at Evans Center's Erie Road Station today to honor our firefighters as "The Bravest of Western New York." The feature aired at 10pm tonight on WNLO-23, which is simulcast on Adelphia Cable Channel 16. The segment highlighted the wreck and rescue that occurred on May 11 when a truck struck a power pole directly in front of the Town of Evans Municipal Center. The TV spot airs every Thursday night on WIVB-Channel 4's 10 o'clock news which airs on the broadcast and cable channels. Thirty-second promos then run throughout the week and the award is featured again when "The Bravest" airs on WNLO on Sunday evenings at 7pm. Evans Center Firefighters Ken Hontz, Charles Klepfer II, Charlie Klepfer III, Joel Raisor, Mike Relosky, Tiger Schmittendorf and Tim Szczepaniak were on hand to receive their framed certificates and speak on camera. After the interviews and background shots were filmed at the fire station, Flynn and her photographer followed Evans Center Engine 1 to the accident scene to record more footage. Also receiving honors but unable to attend the filming of the TV segment were Dennis Allen, Bruce Green Jr., Pat Murphy, Sean Murphy, Harry Watkins and Bob Zamrok.
