Evans Center to Receive AED GiftMidTown - June 4, 2002 --- Evans Center Fire and EMS personnel were recently notified that they are to be one of 13 volunteer fire departments and EMS agencies in Western New York to receive an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) from the non-profit group "Angels Among Us." In conjunction with their HeartSafe2001 program, Angels Among Us will present the AED awards at a ceremony to be held Thursday, June 13, 2002 at the McKinley Park Inn in Blasdell NY. "Angels" report that funding for the AEDs was secured through a generous grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation. The AED that Evans Center will receive was donated by the Madison McCarthy family. These devices are proven lifesavers when used in coordination with early notification and intervention in what is referred to as the "Chain of Survival."
