Cradle Beach Camp Honors
Hometown Heroes
MidTown - July 4, 2002 --- Cradle
Beach Camp, located on Old Lake Shore Road in Evans Center's response
district, chose Independence Day as a fitting time to raise a new flag at the
camp and to take time out to recognize those who serve their community and their
country.
An honor guard detail from the Erie County American Legion was on
hand to raise a new flag in front of the Jim Kelly House on the camp complex.
After the pledge to the flag and everyone singing the national anthem lead by a
camp staffer, Cradle Beach's hometown heroes were introduced.
Evans Center firefighters were joined by representatives from the Highland
Hose and Lake Erie Beach Fire Companies, officers from the Town of Evans Police
Department and Paramedics from Rural/Metro Medical Services.
All of the campers and staff joined in a parade around the campgrounds
following the short ceremony. The photos below show the campers talking with
their hometown heroes enjoying the fire, EMS and police apparatus.
Evans Center handed out trading cards and
invited the campers to visit their new fire station. Our thanks go to the entire
Cradle Beach Staff and campers for inviting us to be a part of this special
ceremony.
