Car Teeters on Guard Rail

MidTown - August 17, 2002 --- A driver of a four door sedan apparently failed to negotiate the curve on Old Lake Shore Road north of Lake St. and ended up suspended on the guardrail. The vehicle struck several sign posts and a power pole before coming to rest on the barrier between the roadway and a rocky embankment.

The driver was still in the vehicle when first units arrived but was able to free himself and exit the vehicle on his own. Although the vehicle was heavily damaged in the crash, he was reportedly uninjured. The accident occurred around 8:20pm.

Evans Center Engine 1 and Rescue 7 responded along with the first and second assistant chiefs to shut off traffic and clean up debris.

Evans Center was assisted at the scene by the Angola Fire Control Dispatch Center, Town of Evans Police, Pinto's Collision and Rural/Metro Paramedics.
