Green announces
2004 appointments
MidTown – Town of Evans NY – December 18, 2004 ---

Chief Bruce Green Jr., along with Assistant Chiefs
Tim Szczepaniak and
Tiger Schmittendorf, has interviewed and appointed the balance of his leadership
team for the coming year.
Serving as Fire Lieutenants will be
Michael Relosky and
Michael Kauzala. Relosky joined the fire department in 2001 and has achieved
Advanced Firefighter and Fire Officer 1 certifications. Kauzala has been a
firefighter since 1999 and is currently completing his paramedic certification.
Both firefighters have served as lieutenants in the past.
Appointed as the company safety officer is
Robert Corsi
Jr., a firefighter with almost 40 years of experience in the fire company. Corsi
served previously as chief of the department and fire marshal for the Town of
Evans. He will be responsible for on-scene operations safety and overseeing the
company’s safety and injury reduction programs.
Corsi will also act as a training officer along with
Assistant Chief Tiger Schmittendorf and the fire captain to be elected at a
special membership meeting later this month. Together, they will coordinate and
deliver the fire company’s objective based training initiatives.

As part of the line operations re-organization meeting held
Saturday-January 4, Green made the following additional appointments.
Assisting in the training division will be Tom Szczepaniak
and John Latimore.
Tom is a Fire Protection Specialist with the NYS Office of
Fire Prevention & Control's HazMat Bureau and a certified instructor. He will
serve as a Training Officer, developing and delivering lesson plans in Evans
Center's Objective-Based Training Program.
John
Latimore will coordinate the maintenance, upkeep and upgrades to Evans
Center's HOT Zone Training Facility. John is a past
chief and serves as the fire marshal for the Town of Evans. Latimore is credited
with conceiving, creating and building the training facility over 12 years ago.
Laura
DeJoy will serve as the Line Clerk, performing data entry for staff training
records and distributing information to the firefighters and first responders of
the department.
Bob
Zamrok will oversee special projects on an as needed basis, assisting the
line operations team.
Appointments are still pending for a newly created Sr. Fire
Lieutenant's position and an EMS Officer.
The newly appointed officers officially took office January
1, 2004.
