Firefighters train
with Air Bags
URGENT UPDATE: Air Bag Training Pays Off
MidTown – Town of Evans NY – April 28, 2004 ---
Evans Center Firefighters trained in the use of their Paratech Air Bags with
manufacturer's representatives earlier tonight.
Evans Center carries three different size airbags on their
Engine 1 - a combination engine/rescue. The fire company has been using airbags
for over ten years with the largest bag having a lifting capacity of 17 tons.
The training was provided by Mike Meldrum and Tony
Schueckler, technical representatives for Paratech. Training started out in the
classroom with a video and discussion on the application, set-up, use,
maintenance and care of the air bag system.
The trainers and crew then went outside to Evans Center's
HOT Zone Training Facility and practiced multiple
cribbing and lift scenarios with a station wagon. Sixteen firefighters
participated.
Special thanks to Mike and Tony for providing the
in-service training.
