The
I-90 Express:
>GO TO LIST OF THRUWAY
RESPONSES
Evans Center protects approximately 15 miles of this Interstate between the Town of Hamburg (Lake View Road Overpass) and the Silver Creek Toll Barrier including the Angola/Eden Interchange (Exit 57A), two rest areas and the Angola Service Area. According to the New York State Thruway Authority, the average traffic flow through this 65MPH high-speed section is more than 33,000 vehicles per day, with peaks of up to 1,500 vehicles per hour. This busy section of highway provides plenty of action for Evans Center Volunteers with vehicle fires, crashes and other emergencies to respond to each year. Engine 2 - dubbed "The I-90 Express" - responds with a back-up set of Jaws-of-Life from Evans Center Station 2 located on Gowans Road adjacent to the Thruway.
